wint Oscar voor Beste Film
2012 

Een dolgelukkige Jean Dujardin werd voor zijn rol in The Artist
bekroond met de Oscar voor Beste Acteur.

Afgelopen nacht vond de 84ste editie plaats van de jaarlijkse Oscaruitreiking door de Amerikaanse Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. The Artist van Michel Hazanavivius en Hugo van Martin Scorsese waren de grootste slokops: elk van beide films sleepte vijf Oscars in de wacht. Toch was The Artist de grote winnaar, niet alleen omdat deze stille zwart-witfilm uitgeroepen werd tot beste film, maar ook omdat Hugo vrede moest nemen met veeleer 'technische' Oscars, zoals die voor beste geluidsmontage en beste fotografie.
